Training Weekend

Why?

We would wish to see that every participant has experienced their chosen activities prior to departure.  For instance, it would be very wrong for somebody to experience caving for the first time on the event, only to find that you’re allergic to dark damp narrow holes in the ground……… or that you can only paddle on the left hand side!!!!  So we run a training weekend out of Great Tower over a weekend in early April 2004, to get the Group together, to meet the activity leaders and to participate in half day sessions in each of your chosen activities………. and to receive final briefings for the event.   This will be on the same camping/self catering basis that we will operate in the Ardennes.

On the 2002 trip, we covered Caving, Climbing and Canoeing, plus some essential briefings in what to take, team-building exercises and a chance for the Explorers to meet the other members and the Leaders.  Attendance is not optional - we need people to be part of the 'team' from day 1, and any reason for a weekend camping at GT is good enough really!
